BMW X3 Towing Features

The available BMW towing features have been designed to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable towing experience no matter where Westlake Village roads may lead you. While the new X3 is on the smaller side of the BMW SAV® lineup, you’ll find the inclusion of the following safety and technology features helpful as this model can handle weight that even larger rivals might struggle with:

  • Dynamic Traction Control
  • Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
  • Brake Fade Compensation
  • Start-off Assistant
  • Brake Drying and Brake Stand-by
  • 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes
  • Dynamic Brake Control
  • Cornering Brake Control
  • Servetronic power steering assist
  • Rear-view camera
  • Active Driving Assistant

If you’re looking for a bit more out of the X3 towing experience, you can upgrade to access more towing features. A few options include Surround View with 3D View, Active Lane Keeping Assistant, and adaptive headlights. Don’t forget to equip the available towing hitch ($550), too!

BMW X3 Powertrains and Performance Specs

Each BMW X3 model provides a strong performance you can show off, however, there are a few powertrain options available. Luckily, no matter which of the four BMW X3 trim levels you end up choosing, you can rest assured you’re getting a great model with plenty of power. Here are the available options:

2021 BMW X3 sDrive30i / xDrive30i

  • Power: 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque (2.0L TwinPower Turbo i4 engine)
  • Drivetrain: BMW sDrive rear-wheel drive or BMW xDrive all-wheel drive
  • Curb Weight: 3,931 pounds with sDrive or 4,147 pounds with xDrive

2021 BMW X3 xDrive30e (Plug-In Hybrid)

  • Power: 288 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque (2.0L TwinPower Turbo i4 with Electric Motor)
  • Drivetrain: BMW xDrive all-wheel drive
  • Curb Weight: 4,586 pounds

2021 BMW X3 M40i

  • Power: 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque (3.0L M Performance TwinPower Turbo V6)
  • Drivetrain: BMW xDrive all-wheel drive
  • Curb Weight: 4,244 pounds

While all models offer the BMW X3 towing hitch, having a model with higher quotients of horsepower and torque will make it easier to get up to speed. If you tend to spend a lot of time towing heavy cargo, you’ll appreciate the extra control offered with xDrive AWD.
