2024 BMW 5 Series Side Profile
For those who appreciate the sportiness of the BMW Series 3 but also want a bit more legroom for themselves and their passengers, the 2024 BMW 5 Series is the logical move up. In this overview of the 2024 BMW 5 Series specs, we’ll show you why you needn’t worry about losing out on the performance of the 3 Series to gain some extra interiorroom for those Los Angeles drives! As you’ll see, the BMW 5 Series engine outputs a considerable amount of power, and this is even before we’ve mentioned that the all-electric BMW i5 specs are even better in some respects!

2024 BMW 5 Series Engine Specs

The gas-powered 5 Series comes in three trims, with the heftier 3.0L inline-six engine being available only on the 540i xDrive. And while the 540i xDrive comes standard with BMW xDrive AWD technology, you can opt for this drivetrain on the 530i as well, where it pairs with a 2.0L inline-four engine.

2024 BMW i5 Specs

Since the BMW i5 is all-electric, the main factor that contributes to differences in the BMW i5 specs between the i5 eDrive40 and i5 M60 is the presence of one versus two electric motors, respectively. Additionally, BMW xDrive AWD is standard on the performance-oriented i5 M60 but is not available on the single-motor i5 eDrive40.

With its single electric motor, the eDrive40 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a respectable 5.7 seconds, though the dual-motor i5 M60 leaves it trailing in the dust. Due to the combination of BMW xDrive AWD, dual motors, a perfect 50%/50% front/rear weight distribution, and more, the all-electric i5 M60 can accelerate to 60 mph in a mere 3.7 seconds!

But regardless of which electric version you go with, you’ll get at least 240 miles on a single charge. So even on those long Westlake Village drives, you can be confident that you’ll have enough power to go and get back with minimal stops at charging stations along the way.
