BMW X7 MPG Ratings

2022 BMW X7 Front View

The large BMW X7 Sport Activity Vehicle® offers three rows of seating as standard, along with plenty of cargo space, and that makes it perfect for growing families who don’t want to compromise on luxury. With a base curb weight of well over 5,000 pounds, you might not expect the BMW X7 MPG ratings to be particularly impressive—but since this model can get more than 20 mpg in the city or on the highway, it’s actually a great choice for daily drivers! Our guide to the 2023 BMW X7 gas mileage ratings covers all the details.

2023 BMW X7 Gas Mileage

At the time of writing, the 2023 BMW X7 is only offered in two configurations—and there’s a significant difference in fuel economy between the two models. Keep these specs in mind to make the right choice for your Los Angeles and Westlake Village travels:

  • 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i Gas Mileage: Up to 21 mpg city and 25 mpg highway
  • 2023 BMW X7 M60i Gas Mileage: Up to 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway

In model-year 2022, the X7 was also offered in a luxury-focused ALPINA XB7 configuration. Like the M60i, it’s equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 engine—and its fuel economy specs are comparable:

  • 2022 BMW ALPINA XB7 Gas Mileage: Up to 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway

Large SUVs are not necessarily known for offering impressive fuel economy. Even though the X7 is a standout performer in its segment, we wouldn’t blame you if you decided to consider other options at the same time. Compare the 2023 X7 to the 2023 X5, or check out the BMW iX MPG ratings to learn more about the BMW lineup’s fully electrified powertrains.

Comparing the BMW X7 Performance Specs

Depending on what you desire from your next vehicle, our guide to the 2023 BMW X7 gas mileage might be all that you need to make a decision—but we couldn’t blame you if you were interested in this model’s other performance specs, too! After all, the X7 isn’t just efficient—it’s one of the most powerful options in its segment:

  • X7 xDrive40i: Turbocharged i6 engine with 375 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque; standard xDrive AWD
  • X7 M60i: Turbocharged V8 engine with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque; standard xDrive AWD

Although these two powertrains have all the get-up-and-go that you’ll need to bring the large X7 SAV® up to speed, it’s worth noting that you can access an even stronger engine by choosing the X5 M.
